Rensselaer County Meals On Wheels, Feb 6, 2020 · Rensselear County celebrated a big milestone on Thursday, with the delivery of the 4,000,000th meal as part of the county’s Meals on Wheels program. <br /><br /> Home Delivered Meals are prepared daily onsite at one of the local senior centers in Rensselaer County. Provides county residents who are age 60, and older, with nutritious meal options as well as nutrition counseling and education. Meals are delivered Monday through Friday to people older than 60 who are in need. The Home Delivered Meal will meet at least One- Third (1/3) of the recommended dietary allowances (RDA) for an adult age 60 years and older. Between home delivery and dining in at five senior centers, staff and volunteers at Rensselaer County’s Departing of Aging serve more than 700 meals a day. Y. Other services offered include health and welfare counseling, shopping assistance, outreach, transportation, escort services, and information and referrals to local resources. The Nutrition Program provides senior citizens with noontime meals, Monday through Friday, which supply at least one third of the recommended daily nutrition allowance.
